I never been in a photo contest before. How about nature?
Any theme is fine with me, I'm not sure how bong Ash is going to do this contest, but it seems like a tough one to figure out. I mean, how to determine the winner and all.

What ever happened to this contest?
We are looking for a dozen of participants; ideas on themes, & how to determine the winner. As always, suggestions needed.
The first month can go without a theme, as suggested by Hamster. However, we need to address one major issue:
*People taking photographs from the internet & using it in the contest.

That is a major issue. I'll have to think on that a bit then but I do want to participate.
Hmm, I suppose we can post a name tag or anything that has Khmer forum label of some sort in the picture that we take. I mean, it shouldn't be that hard to spot a photo that has been alter by photoshop if someone wanted to cut and paste it onto someone's else photo from the internet. We just has to ignore that Khmer Forum name in the photo, where it shouldn't interfere with the photo judging.
Since nobody has any suggestion, I guess I can start with some ideas and anyone can jump in to correct or agree. It doesn't matter if my ideas doesn't goes into effect, just hoping it help jump start this contest for everyone that might be interested in participating. I mean, the awards doesn't have to be high, because we all just love to do something fun.
Just like Hamster suggested, we should just shoot anything we liked.
Maybe we each submit three photo to Admin for judging, he then pick one out of three that he thinks is the best photo to him. Then the picked of our picture should be posted on the thread for all other participants to pick.
For example, each member can only pick one picture they think should be the winner without knowing who took that picture. All photo should be anonymous, to avoid friends voting for each other. We CAN NOT vote for our own picture and Admin will get all the tally from each member through inbox or something. First, Second, Third, etc will go as follow on the number of votes per photo. If there is a tied for a certain place, we can all vote on those two picture again to break the tie.
Or we can just submit only one picture and everyone just vote on it so Admin can just relax. Maybe this will help bring up some light bulb for someone to jump in.

We are still planning this contest, & everyone's suggestions have been greatly appreciated! At the moment, we are looking at September or October for our starting time line.
Submitted photos will be displayed through our network (Khmer Ave, Merlkon, e.g.) without the photographer's name, which will be revealed after the contest. We might reopen KhmerPortal.com for this purpose. Stay tune for more updates in the coming weeks. Thank you!

For the photo contest, we should all just stalk and photobomb hunnie in LA or Long Beach!
We just recently acquired the domain after it got dropped by the prior owner.

I am grateful for this community and everyone's valuable contributions. Through all level of failures and successes, I will always remember the names & faces that have been coming here for years.
