Thank you for sharing with us Hunnie. I watched bits and pieces here and there because I love the character Ah Zhu. Jia Qing did a fine job in the role. She is better as Ah Zhu then Ah Zhi. Although dressed with simple garments (which I don't even consider to be clothing) and a simple hairstyle I really like her and was saddened to see her demise. I wished the serial emphasized her martial arts a bit more though. I know she is not a good or outstanding fighter but I always wished to know how good is her martial arts really (same goes with Ah Bi).

Although she is a maid but her master comes from the Murong family and she was able to seal the acupoints of a few monks from Shaolin as well. But other then that her martial arts ability has not been explored yet again (this happens in every adaption). Although there is one funny thing someone brought up about Ah Zhu. Well Qiao Feng is one of the strongest characters in the story. Ah Zhu suffered one fatal blow that killed her because he pretty much went all out. How on earth did the girl manage to survive a few moments to say goodbye and give off her final speech to him? She must have had some strong hidden internal energy going on because any normal person would die instantly.

The Korean actor who plays as Duan Yu is very annoying and I hate him. He is also ugly and has overacted many scenes. I could be biased because I don't even like the character himself from the novel. The actress who plays as Wang Yu Yan is not pretty enough in my opinion. Now I am just waiting for Gao Yuan Yuan and Alyssa Chia to come out.

I felt the same like you LianNiChang. I really liked Jia Qing acting as Ah Zhu. Really didn't care for Wang Yu Yan, I always expect her to be very super attractive. She's supposed to be the hottest girl in the series. It's weird how a maid ( Jia Qing ) looks better then her? They really need to work on their girl's selection. Zhang Meng is not beautiful enough for the role, not no Wang Yu Yan material.

I didn't like Duan Yu because Kim Ki-bum looks too girly for the role. Not because he's Korean, I agreed that there's many handsome looking Korean guy for the role. But I honestly think its the budget thing. They wanted international fans and it was already costing them a leg and an arm to cast Wallace Chung in here. Kim Ki-bum fit their budget and will pull in those young Korean teen viewers. Those two pairing was kind of a big disappointment for the whole series since they are one main pair.

I didn't get to watch the third pair, so I can't say much for them. I did get to see Alyssa Chia for a little bit and she definitely looks hot in here. Didn't see Gao Yuan Yuan either with my random scanning.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, I have a problem hating Madam Ma played by Viann Zhang Xinyu. Looks like she will be making her acting debut in this series. She definitely has the exotic looks for the role. Add her to a pile of reasons why many Chinese viewers are watching this series.

I can't say much for their acting since I really didn't watch the series. So I can only based my short review on their appearance. I needed everyone else to tell me what they think of the character. Are you sold out by their acting for the role?

Hey LianNiChang, do you think this adaptation is based on the old revision where Duan Yu marries Yu Yan or is it the newer revision where she decides to take care of her crazy, power hungry cousin? Someone posted that it's supposed to be based on the newest revision?

The beginning of the series and in one of the trailer, reminds me of Final Fantasy.
He can be a Chinese Cloud for Final Fantasy 7. :D

In case anybody didn't catch it, Jia Qing played as A Zhu and A Zi. If you'll miss seeing her around after A Zhu character dies off, the director decides to have her stick around longer. I think she does a great job portraying both role.

Everything is great for what its worth....except for the emotional content. Anyways, Sokhenstudios loved it! He was up all night watching it.

For me, I prefer swordsman cause at least, Joe Chen in it lol.

Part 2 isn't out yet, so getting hook on it now will just be a disappointment when you can't keep going. :)

I didn't watch swordsman. I'm not a fan of watching remakes. Many of these series will be delayed for a while when I find the mood. But who knows when that will be? :D

I'm only here to rave on how good they look. ;)

I need to see some real acting seriously...The guys are prettier than the girls now? WTF yo, where's my ticket to the gay parade? Wallace (whatever his name is, I'm sure its Xie Lin Fo or something) is a hot man!

I would literally watch anything Joe Chen is in. If she decides to make a Thai movie, ok no problem. Any movie, its ok baby I watch it all night long hunnie.

I'm curious, why Joe Chen out of all the Chinese actress?

As for me, I liked a lot of actress and actor, but I will skip certain ones if the drama or pairing sucks. Maybe I'm just a little picky sometimes especially when there's just little time in a day for me to do everything. :)

She's very pretty.....not like a big booty girl in the States, but you know, like those petite Chinese girls you wanna ask out in high school lol...Those types of girls are total bitches though. I hate bitches more than stupid people.

What do you think of Wallace Chung? I had to agree with on that Korea dude... Comparing to all previous, he's the most annoying.

Bong groupon I like Wallace as an actor and he handles his emotions well but he is too skinny to be Qiao Feng. Physically I can't accept he is a super powerful martial arts expert. Not only that but he's not really that tall either, he lacks the commanding attention of a leader of thousands of people. It's hard to judge his fighting scenes because all of his fights include CGI. Of course his acting is still good, especially as a tragic hero. Did you guys know Wallace speaks Cantonese and he used to play in TVB movies? Watch DIF III and you'll see.

Yeah he started off working for TVB, but I guess China is paying him more. China likes to hire TVB faces.

Viann is beautiful, but was never really fond of her. She has act in movies and other series before, but really never took note of her. I wonder how come she has shine in the lime light lately. I have jumped episode here, and there so dont have not much about her performance. so Far this series hasn't grabbed on my full attention, maybe when I am really bored I will watch the whole thing. I like Wallace, but he looks out of place along with other main characters, I am probably being very bias and comparing this to the other adaptation. I remember liking the TVB 96 version, but still don't have much memories to compare the two. However the 2003 version is quit fresh in my mind. I love the casting, martial arts, cinematography but the editing really sucks!

I've only seen bits here and there, and I totally agree that a lot of actors and actresses are miscast for the roles. Funny that the small clips of Alissa Chia and Alec Su became more exciting than this series. lol.

Jia Qing/Azu is my favorite and pretty 2, especially the dying scenes. And yes Yu Yan is not as pretty as that role is supposed to be. I like the 97 yu yan, and the 2003 is my fav (Liu Yifei fan). I agree about the miscast, but I'm getting used to Duan Yu , even though he looks alil girly, the funny scenes make up for it. I laugh the whole way through the beginning. Cant wait for the rest of the series.

Alyssia is hilarious here. She simply steals the spotlight when she appears. I never liked the character Li Qiu Shui before but I was rooting for her. Those who don't know she is Wang Yu Yan's maternal grandmother. I have never seen Alyssia in a villain role before either. But she is so young to be in this role, how can she be playing as an old woman here? When next to Han Dong they look like they are the same age. Gao Yuan Yuan's role is very small, just appearing in flashbacks but still pretty and youth looking nontheless.

The old woman learns special martial arts to keep her youth, she is supposed to look young. So Having Alyssia protraying the character is fitting. Just like the granny who kidnaps Xu Zhu and place him in the icy place to have sexual relation with the princess. The reunions of the HSDS crew is just marketing tactics. I read that this series flopped really bad, that they even pulled it off network slots. I think it might had more view online.
