Ok, well I am a US citizen now. I used to live in France and left in 1987. I have my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins live in France and their own home, but no parents. They are all French citizen, except my grandparents. I still have my old documents to show that I used to live in France including a French birth certificate that French issued for me when I lived there. So now you know, what do I do to get back to live in France legally. Can you help. I would appreciate very much.

where do you live in US, because you need to apply a visa to French consulate (not French Embassy).

A valid passport is required for all U.S. citizens and foreign national entering France. Visitors must have ready for presentation at the border documentary evidence of the purpose of the visit, means of support for the duration of the stay and accommodation arrangements.

A visa may be required. It must be requested from a French Consulate, and not from the Embassy, before departure. Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality and duration of stay in France and possibly on the reason for your visit to France.

To find out if you need a visa and, if so, how to apply for one, first choose the closest French Consulate

For general information on consular requests, including visas or how to get married in France, you can refer to the Consulate General of Washington’s website.

I think that you need some documents from your family in France, but French Consulate will inform you better than me !!! Feel free to ask me if you want any helps !!!
